Case of the Month
An 8 year old sheltie cross was admitted on emergency for a possible coyote attack to the neck. There were several large, deep lacerations to the neck on both sides. The patient seemed stable at the time so sedation was given to clean the wound and apply a wrap. The next day another surgery was done to clean the area and a second wrap was placed. Due to the extensive nature of this wound, it took repeated cleaning and bandaging procedures to keep the wound healthy and free of infection. Finally, a month later, the last surgery was performed to close the entire defect by moving skin from other parts of the body. The dog healed almost completely and is doing well three years later.
The pictures below are a bit graphic in nature, so please keep that in mind before you select one to view.
